Rodney Cook, Sr. Park
A Landmark Green Space in Historic Vine City
This expansive 16-acre urban park in Vine City represents a significant addition to the Atl Freedom Path. The park honors Rodney Cook, Sr., a Buckhead insurance leader who collaborated closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other prominent civil rights activists during the movement's pivotal years.
Developed through a collaborative effort between the City of Atlanta's Parks and Watershed Departments, the Trust for Public Land, and the National Monuments Foundation, this $34 million green space serves dual purposes. Beyond providing recreational amenities, it functions as an innovative water management system for the Proctor Creek Basin, similar in design to the successful Historic Fourth Ward Park.
